22 Armed Taliban Members Killed In Afghan Air Operation

MEP: Officials in northern Kunduz province say as a result of Afghan National Army helicopters operation, 22 members of the armed Taliban, including a senior commander were killed.

Attorney General Sheraziz Kamawal, commander of 808 Spin Zar zone said the air strike was launched in Dasht-e Archi district of Kunduz on Monday.

In this operation, a major Taliban commander named Maulawi Muawiyah, along with 22 of his fellows have been killed and four of their vehicles were destroyed, Kamawal added.

No civilian casualties were reported during the operation.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Danish, Kunduz governor’s spokesman says a search operation in the city is leading by Gen. Murad Ali Murad, deputy chief of staff of the Ministry of National Defense that many areas of the province have been removed from Taliban control.

“Clearance operations are also underway in Qala-e-Zal district of the province” he added.

The development comes as the joint clearing operation in Kunduz province under the name of the fourth stage of “Shafaq” operation is ongoing.
