30 Taliban militants arrested in Afghan forces operation in Nangarhar
KABUL: (MEP) – At least 30 Taliban militants were arrested during a major military operation in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
According to Afghan interior officials, the military operations were launched in Chaparhar district and will continue for another 10 days in various districts.
The interior ministry following a statement said that Afghan security forces also discovered and seized weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operation.
The statement further added that majority of villages in Chaparhar district was cleared of militant’s activities and the security situation has considerably improved following the operation.
Afghan security forces also seized at least five improvised explosive device (IEDs) during the operations in Chaparhar district so far.
The Taliban militant group has not commented regarding the report so far.
Nangarhar is among the relatively peaceful province in eastern Afghanistan; however, the Taliban militants have recently increased their insurgency activities in its various districts.
