KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 42 Taliban militants including their local commanders were killed during military operations in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Saturday.
A statement released by MoI, said the militants were killed or injured in the past 24 hours.
The statement further added that the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan national police, Afghan national army and Afghan intelligence – national directorate of security (NDS) operatives.
At least 44 Taliban militants were also wounded and another one was arrested during the operations which were conducted in Kunar, Nangarhar, Parwan, Paktika, Kunduz, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, and Logar provinces, interior ministry said.
The statement by interior ministry also added that Afghan national security forces discovered and detained various types of weapons and explosives during the operations.
Afghan national polices forces confiscated 14 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) during operations in Kunduz, Kandahar, Uruzgan and Khost provinces, interior ministry said.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report yet.
