5 killed in mine blast, road crash in Kandahar
KABUL: (MEP) – A famer was killed when his tractor hit a roadside mine allegedly planted by insurgents to target the security forces in Khogyani village of Maruf district in southern province of Kandahar, governor office said Saturday.
According to a statement from the governor office, four people including women and children were killed in a road crash in the 9th police district of Kandahar city.
The reason, the statement quoted a traffic official as saying on condition of anonymity that was speed beyond limit and failure of the driver to obey traffic rule.
Elsewhere in Panjway, Zharai and Maiwand districts, the security forces during a series of operation could recover as many as 32 anti-vehicle and personnel mines, according to the statement.
