MEP: The Afghan security forces conducted a military operation in Giro district of Ghazni province, and released at least fifty civilians from the Taliban prison, local officials said.
Aminullah Amarkhail, Ghazni police chief said the operation was launched on Friday evening in the surrounding areas of Giro district.
The security forces were able to destroy the Taliban prison and 50 civilians who were detained by the Taliban, have been released, he added.
Amarkhail said the armed Taliban have suffered casualties during the clashes but he did not provide exact figures.
The armed Taliban are also yet to comment on the report.
