57% of Americans oppose with US war in Afghanistan: Poll

KABUL: (MEP) – The majority of the Americans opposes with Washington’s anti-terror war in Afghanistan and urges President Barack Obama to withdraw troops out of Afghanistan faster, according to a latest poll report.

The poll conducted by Associated Press-GfK reveals that 57 percent of the Americans believe that war in Afghanistan after the 2001 terror attacks was probably the “wrong thing to do.”

The poll report also revealed that 53 percent of the Americans believe that the pace of the planned withdrawal is too slow.

While 34 percent said the pace was just about right and 10 percent said it was too fast, according to the poll report, khaama press reported.

In the meantime, 32 percent of the Americans believe that the security situation would become worse, while about half of those who were interviewed have said that the situation remains the same.

According to the poll report, only 15 percent of the Americans believe that the situation in Afghanistan will get better over the next year.

The poll was conducted by Associated Press and GfK between December 5-9, using Knowledge Panel, GfK’s probability-based online panel.

The results were based on 1,367 adults, where respondents were first selected randomly using phone or mail survey methods, and later, completed this survey online.

Knowledge Panel is designed to be representative of the U.S. population.
