Gunmen Attack US Consulate Building in Turkish City of Istanbul
KABUL: (Middle East Press) The US Consulate building has come under attack of two assailants opening fire in Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul on Monday, the country’s media reported.
No one was hurt in the clashes and gunfire.
However, the assailants have reportedly managed to escape the area.
The attack comes just hours after a bomb attack rocked a police station in Istanbul, in the Sultanbeyli neighborhood.
At least five police officers and two civilians have been injured in the bomb blast.
No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.
The attacks come at a time of increased tension between Turkey and rebels of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Turkey has also recently announced it was taking a more active role against the Islamic State group.
