16 Members Of A Family Killed In Taliban Attack As Clashes Continue In Kunduz
KABUL: (Middle East Press) Taliban militants have brutally killed at least 16 members of a single family in Kunduz province as residents keep speaking out about their terrifying ordeal at the hands of the militants in the city.
Rahim Gul the father and the elder of the deceased family told media that “the Taliban has committed unforgivable crimes”.
He said with tearful eyes that 16 members of his family were killed in a rocket attack.
“The Taliban confiscated 40 hectares of my land and burned our house down. We left and went to another house but again the Taliban hit our house – with a rocket. Some of my children are now seriously wounded and the others are dead,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dawlat Waziri, deputy spokesman for the ministry of defense, said on Tuesday that military forces are providing health care services to the sick and injured in Kunduz city.
Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman for Ministery of Interior said that security forces have killed eight militants during ongoing clearance operations on Tuesday.
Former spy chief and leader of the Green Trend, Amrullah Saleh has called on government to conduct an investigation into Kundoz attack that led to a tragedy and drag those responsible to justice.
He said that government published a press release regarding the incident which is not satisfactory.
Saleh added, those who showed negligence in their duties need to be dragged to judiciary.
Saleh further said that Taliban infiltrators who are considered to be the fifth pillar of the government must be identified and trialed.
Taliban extremists have harshly occupied Kunduz city from 10 days and are in heavy clashes with the security forces.
They have burned hundreds of civilians’ houses and have raped their young women and daughters.
However the specific number of the casualties are not yet cleared but reports suggest that so far around 400 people have been killed and wounded in the dreadful attack.
