Afghan Troops Defeat Taliban In Badakhshan’s Tagab District
KABUL: (MEP) Afghan security forces have successfully managed to defeat the Taliban insurgents in Tagab district of northeastern Badakhshan province.
Taliban insurgents had captured the district two days before in which hundreds of families had been displaced by conflict, officials said Tuesday, adding that the Taliban have completely driven out from the district.
Operations against the insurgents have been launched to clear all parts of the district and the families have returned to their normal life, according to security sources.
At least 15 Taliban were killed and 20 others wounded in the operation that ended yesterday.
Qari Mahmood, the so-called governor of Taliban for Warsaj district of Takhar province, and two other commanders of the group namely Qari Mahboob and Talha were also among the dead in the operation.
It is noteworthy that two security troops also embraced martyrdom.
Meanwhile, the governor’s spokesperson Ahmad Naweed Ferotan also confirmed the report, adding that Taliban fled to Yamgan and Teshkan districts of the province but security forces following them.
