US Ambassador: No Program for Supporting Specific Candidate in Afghan Poll

KABUL: (MEP) – The US ambassador to Kabul says future presidential elections in Afghanistan will change political destiny of the country and US has no program for supporting a specific candidate, BNA reported.

James Kattaghum, US ambassador to Kabul has told media upcoming presidential elections of Afghanistan would be fair and US would not support any specific candidates, but assistance would be provided for holding transparent elections and technical, financial and security needs would be addressed.

He says US is supporting the country’s all politician for holding transparent elections in the country, but US has no plans to support a specific candidate, adding for supporting the process, US police are working to advise and train Afghan security forces to maintain security for the upcoming presidential elections.
