Five People Killed, 12 Injured In Herat Explosion

Herat province-Middle East PressMEP: At least five people including two policemen were killed and a dozen civilians wounded in a powerful blast in Shindand district of Herat province, local officials said.

Jilani Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Herat said the incident took place at 1:00 pm this afternoon at the central bazaar of Shindand district.

The incident arose from the embedded explosives in a three-wheeled vehicle that as a result, five people, including two policemen and three civilians were killed and 12 other civilians, including women and children were wounded, he added.

Those injured in the blast have been transferred to central hospital.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast but Herat governor’s spokesman said that investigations started.

According to Farhad, the explosion also left a large financial losses and a mosque which was located at the site has been damaged.
