Roadside Mine Leaves Eight Dead, Injured In Takhar

Takhar province-Middle East PressMEP: As a result of a roadside bomb explosion in Darqad district of Takhar province, five civilians were killed and three others were wounded.

Sunnatullah Timur, Takhar governor’s spokesman told the Middle East Press on Saturday that the mine was placed in Alqenaq area this morning and went off over a vehicle of civilians.

He said five people were killed and three others wounded in the blast.

Timur added the armed Taliban had blocked the roads of Darqad district through Alqenaq area by setting mines all over and the security forces have managed to reopen the roads two days before to the public.

However, Timur noted that in some areas, mines still remain embedded that today’s incident is from such mines.

The report comes as yesterday another roadside bomb explosion in the same area killed a policeman and injured four others.
