Brussels Summit Concluded With Pledge Of $15.2 Billion Aid To Afghanistan
MEP: The international community at Brussels summit pledged $15.2 billion aid over the next four years to rebuild Afghanistan as the conference on Afghanistan ended on Wednesday with participation of world leaders.
The Brussels summit entitled “Partnership for Development and Peace” on Wednesday attended by representatives of 70 countries and 20 international organizations and institutions was held in Belgium.
Heads of donor countries to Afghanistan, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah and Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke during the summit.
President Ghani while appreciating the assistance by international community, said all plans prepared ahead of the two-day Brussels Summit on Afghanistan were drawn up carefully and based on relativity to the lives of the people of Afghanistan.
“Following the pledges Wednesday, much work lies ahead in terms of turning this aid into viable projects and the promises made at Brussels means the people of Afghanistan get a new lease on life where prosperity can be generated” he added.
Germany is reportedly expect to pledge 1.7 billion dollars in the next four years to help Afghanistan. It made its contributions to the fight against corruption and the return of migrants.
The Great Britain also announced one billion dollars in aid to Afghanistan and India also declared that in the next four years would help Afghanistan with $1 billion.
Pakistan to provide $500 million grant to Afghanistan in addition to providing three thousand scholarships during the next four years has been committed.
And so on the government of Japan and Saudi Arabia have pledged assistance to the government of Afghanistan.
