Yemen Rally Against Saudi’s Bombing At Funeral That Left 700 Dead, Injured

MEP: Thousands of angry Yemenis have staged rally and poured to the streets Sana’a on Sunday to denounce Saudi Arabia’s recent aggression against Yemeni’s civilians at a funeral that left 140 people dead and over 500 wounded.

Carrying flags and placards, the demonstrators gathered outside the United Nations office to express their outrage at the Saudi violence against their country.

Country’s Supreme Political Council called to hold the protest on Saturday.

A funeral for the father of Interior Minister Jalal al-Roweishan was being held on Saturday with the participation of more than two thousand people when the Saudi airstrike hit a community hall in southern Sana’a.

The Saudi missiles tore through the hall with hundreds of body parts left strewn in and outside the building.

The death toll was one of the largest in a single incident since March 2015, when the Riyadh regime began its deadly campaign to crush the Houthis and their allies and restore power to resigned president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Sana’a Mayor Abdel Qader Hilal was reported to be among the victims of Saturday’s assault.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia denying the claim, said its coalition will launch an investigation into the case.

It would “immediately investigate this case” along with US experts.

The Saudi-led coalition said in a statement: “The coalition will immediately investigate this case along with the Joint Incidents Assessment Team in Yemen and experts from the United States who participated in previous investigations.”
