Scores Dead, Injured As Suicide Attack Hits Shia Gathering In Baghdad
MEP: At least 31 people were killed and more than 50 wounded when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest among Shia mourners at a religious gathering in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday.
The attack occurred at around lunchtime on a tent in a crowded market in a northern district of the city.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet
The explosion went off when hundreds of Shia Muslims had gathered in Ashura processions, mourning the martyrdom anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)’s grandson, Imam Hussein (PBUH), in the 7th century.
The initial death toll was expected to increase.
