Taliban Trying To Take Advantage Of Lapis In Badakhshan
MEP: Security officials in Badakhshan say, the armed Taliban are trying to take advantage of lapis through areas in the districts of Keran and Manjan.
Badakhshan provincial police chief, Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Ghafuri told the Middle East Press, more than a dozen times in recent days the armed Taliban have attacked the districts that have been folded back with the resistance of security forces.
Badakhshan police chief says the armed Taliban are working hard to get the districts in order to reach to lapis areas.
According Ghafuri, at the group’s recent attacks that lasted until yesterday, four people, including a foreign citizen have been killed and their attacks were defeated.
At the same time, he says, the extraction of the Lapis is stopped and the officials are trying to state-building it. Suggestions on this matter were already sent to the central authorities.
On the other hand, Zia ul-deen Wasiq, member of the provincial council told the Middle East Press, if the government legalizes the extraction of these deposits and so it begins mining continued and technical work, the government would benefit a great income.
He says, however, Azure extraction from the mines stopped by the government, but still a number of people trafficking to extract it their way.
