Center of Qala-e-Zal district retaken from Taliban  

After 10 days being seized by Taliban, Afghan security forces recaptured the center of Qala-e-Zal city of Kunduz province today, Tuesday.

After 10 days being seized by Taliban, Afghan security forces recaptured the center of Qala-e-Zal city of Kunduz province today, Tuesday.

“The district and the police commandment building wer retaken from the Taliban early in the morning, 9:30 am, following a heavy fighting between the security forces of “Agh Tapa” district and Taliban” told Akbari Mahfuzollah, the spokesman for police in northeast of Afghanistan told the Middle East Press

He added the security forces operation began early in the morning.

Taliban militants seized the district ten days ago on May 6 as the group launched its “spring offensive”.

The insurgents had planted mines in most parts of the region and that its clearance would take time.

The Taliban group has not made a comment yet.

Kunduz province has been one of the Taliban’s main targets.

Over the past two years, the group have twice managed to seize the city for a short periods before being driven off by Afghan security forces.
