Senior Taliban leader with 11 rebels killed in Wardak province

KABUL: (MEP) – In recent clashes at least 11 Taliban militants including a senior Taliban leader were killed during military operations in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan.

Provincial governor spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani said a senior Taliban leader; Mullah Najeeb “Osama” was killed during clashes with the Afghan security forces on Thursday. Khaama reported.

The provincial government media office following a statement also confirmed the report and said clashes between Afghan security forces and Taliban militants took place after Afghan security forces launched clearance operations in Jaghato, Nerkh, Jalriz and Syedabad districts.

The statement further added that two Taliban militants were also detained during the clashes, and some weapons along with explovies were seized by Afghan security forces.

In the meantime, Khogyani said at least two civilians were killed along with an Afghan national army soldier, and three civilians were injured during the clashes.

Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the report.
