Heavy car bomb explosion Targets Loya Jirga in Kabul

KABUL: (MEP) – A heavy explosion rocked capital Kabul on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place near Kabul Polytechnic University.

Eyewitnesses in the area are saying that the explosion was followed by gun shots. The explosion site is close to Loya Jirga camp where a gathering is expected to be organized on Thursday to debate the bilateral security agreement between Kabul and Washington.

Kabul police officials are saying that a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle packed with explosives near the Loya Jirga camp, khaama reported.

The officials further added, at least one Afghan national army soldier was killed and three others were injured following the explosion.

In the meantime Kabul security chief, Gen. Zahir Zahir said, preliminary reports suggest at least ten people were killed following the blast and a number of others were injured. However, he said the exact number of casualties cannot be confirmed at the moment.
