Afghanistan nominated to receive FIFA Balloon d’Or Award

KABUL: (MEP) – The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) was nominated by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to receive the Balloon D’Or Award.

According to a statement released by Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), Afghanistan is one of the candidates to receive the 2013 Balloon d’Or Award.

The statement further added that the Award will be presented in a ceremony which will be organized on 13 January, in Zurich city of Switzerland.

Around 209 FIFA member countries will participate the ceremony on Monday, AFF added in its statement.

The FIFA Balloon d’Or award for 2012 was given to Uzbekistan last year.

The award function will be attended by attended by Afghanistan Football Federation chief, Keramuddin Karim and Reza Aqazada, the secretary general of the Afghanistan Football Federation.

Afghanistan has been nominated to receive the Balloon d’Or for the first time, during its 90 years of history.
