BSA delay boosting Taliban morale: EU

KABUL: (MEP) – Delay in signing of the Bilateral Security Agreement is building the morale of militants and impacting the transparency of elections, says EU envoy to Kabul.

Franz-Michael Mellbin said the European Union would continue to support Afghanistan regardless of the signing of the security pact between Kabul and Washington.

The EU envoy to Kabul urged the government to ensure a transparent election and put an end to the crisis in the country.

The EU said they would not abandon Afghanistan and would continue to provide aid till 2020 even in the absence of a security agreement with America.

In addition, the EU has also funded the Police Academy with 3 million Euros to set up an Institute for Criminal Research in the country.

President Karzai considers the current war like situation in the country to be contrary to the interest of the people of Afghanistan and has refused to sign the agreement with the US until all violence ends.
