Afghan intelligence foils deadly suicide attack in Faryab province
KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan intelligence foiled a deadly suicide attack plot in northern Faryab province as the first attack left at least 18 dead and nearly 48 others injured.
The militants were looking to carry out a similar attack in Faryab province of Afghanistan by detonating a motorcycle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) in this province.
Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) said a statement that the militants had planted 150 kg of explosives in motorcycle and were looking to carry out a suicide attack.
The statement further added that the suicide bomber was arrested along with the motorcycle-borne improvised explosive device and two AK-47 rifles.
At least 18 people, all civilians were killed and nearly 48 others were injured after a suicide bomber detonated a motorcycle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) in a crowded area of Maimana city on Tuesday morning.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
