Woman has been murdered by her husband

KABUL: (MEP) – According to reports, the killed woman named ‘Razia”, perished in ‘Zargari’ locality in Taloqan city of the province.

Khalil Asir, provincial police headquarter spokesperson told, that ‘Razia’ had married in an area under rule of Taliban with a man who was original resident of Kandahar province, 1TV reported.

Asir added after the wife refused to shift to Kandahar province, she got killed by her husband. Police in Takhar said the accused had flown, but confirmed efforts are underway for his arrest.

In recent past years, some localities in Takhar province have widely witnessed violence cases against women. Murder, pre-mature and forced marriages and baad (giving daughter to settle a dispute), are considered among major violent cases reported in Afghan Northern provinces.

Previously, a man after he learnt that her wife had given birth to a daughter killed his three month old newly born female baby in Rostakh district of the province.

At the time, police had denied the killing, saying the ill-fated child was sick who died on way to hospital.

The situation of women in Afghanistan is worsening, despite law allows authorities to bring those who are indulged in cases against women to courts, but not much positive results seen so far. War since decades in Afghanistan has contributed to the revocation of women`s human rights in the country.
