KABUL: (MEP) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said Thursday that the Afghan Air Force is moving towards a new beginning, repeating the government’s commitment to invest in educating the new generation of the country.

Speaking during an exhibition of the Afghan Air Force, President Ghani thanked the Air Force personnel for dedication and hard work in defending the country.

He also welcomed the commander of the U.S. forces and the NATO-led Resolute Support mission, Gen. John Campbell for assisting the Afghan security forces.

President Ghani further added that the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force will be encouraged in a bid to provide cover for the ground forces across the country.

He also thanked Gen. Campbell and other allies of Afghanistan for supporting the Afghan forces, specifically the Afghan Air Force by supplying fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

The Afghan Air Force received the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft from United States earlier this year, containing four aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Air Force (AAF) received three Mi-25 gunship helicopters from India late last year and officially joined the Afghan Air Force (AAF) in mid-January this year.
