KABUL: (Middle East Press ) Afghan Presidential candidates Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai signed a declaration in dedication to the formation of a national unity government in the existence of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday.
The two candidates guaranteed to accept the conclusion of the audit and start work on the formation of the national unity government.
Dr. Abdullah said the signing of the joint declaration is a sign of hope for the people of Afghanistan who will witness the start of a new political stage in the country.
Dr. Ghani said the national unity government will be formed with an aim to consider the stability and security of the country and the people of Afghanistan should be positive that the two candidates will act in agreement with the consitution of Afghanistan.
In the meantime, Kerry welcomed the agreement by the two contenders and said Dr. Abdullah and Dr. Ghani have agreed to work closely to specify the political path of Afghanistan and jointly fight against the current issues in the country.
Kerry repeated Washington’s support to Afghanistan’s consitution and said the new agreement and creation of chief executive position are not against the Afghan consitution.
The agreement is a serious opportunity for both contenders to move beyond the campaign ambiance. Both candidates have defined a road to a unity government. This is a major step. Both are convertting themselves into statesmen for the next government and a bright future for Afghanistan.
