Afghan Forces Repel Huge Taliban Assault In Kunar
KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Afghan national security forces repelled a huge Taliban attack in eastern Kunar province.
According to local government officials, over 400 local and foreign Taliban militants launched coordinated attacks on security check posts in Ghaziabad district.
Provincial police chief, Gen. Abdul Habib Syed Khel, confirmed that hundreds of Taliban insurgents attacked the security check posts in Ghaziabad district early Friday morning.
Gen. Syed Khel further added that Afghan security forces repelled the Taliban attacks which left at least killed six militants and injured eight others.
In the meantime, a spokesman for the Afghan national army (ANA) 201 Silab Corps, Mohammad Haroon Yousufzai, said at least 10 Taliban militants were killed during the fight.
Yousufzai further added that an Afghan national army soldier and a policeman were also injured, while a commander of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces was killed.
The Taliban group spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, claimed that the Taliban fighters have taken control of two security check posts in Ghaziabad district and several enemy forces were killed during the clashes.
