Afghan president condemns Pakistan’s Parachinar bombings

Afghan president Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the deadly bombings in Parachinar that left at least 57 dead and around 200 others injured, Khaama reported.

Karzai condemning the attack in strong words said that killing of innocent people during the holy month of Ramadan, clearly reflects with enmity with Islam.

President Karzai conveyed his condolences to the family of the victims.

The death toll following the twin suicide attacks which took place on Friday evening reached to 57 people, after 12 wounded in the explosions succumbed to their injuries.

The twin blasts ripped through a congested market and a taxi stand in northwestern Pakistan’s Parachinar town. One of the blasts was carried out by a suicide bomber while the other might have been a planted one, Political Agent Riaz Mehsud said.

Residents said the blasts occurred within an interval of a few seconds about two hours before Iftar. The second blast took place at a taxi stand on the School Road, causing damage to shops and vehicles.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the two explosions. Sectarian violence has been on the rise in nuclear-armed Pakistan, where hardline Sunni militant groups have been relentlessly attacking Shi’ites whom they see as heretics.
