Afghanistan second vice-president visits India

KABUL: (MEP) – The vice president of Afghanistan, Mohammad Karim Khalili left for India to meet with the Indian officials, in a bid to execute the bilateral agreements which were agreed by the two nations, khaama reported.

An official in Khalili’s office confirmed the report and said the second vice-president is in India to implement the commitment’s which were agreed between Kabul and New Delhi.

India is hosting Mohammad Karim Khalili, with an eye on the looming political transition expected in Afghanistan next year after the withdrawal of the US-led international troops.

His schedule in New delhi includes meetings with India’s president Pranab Mukherjee, vice-president Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and external affairs minister Salman Khurshid, the official in Khalili’s office said.

Mohammad Karim Khalili is accompanied by Afghan economy minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, higher education minister Obaidullah Obaid and Afghan army chief of staff Sher Mohammad Karimi.

The official in Karimi Khalili’s office Arif Basir said, the second vice-president will also hold talks on security related issues, however, he did not disclose further information in this regard.

This comes as Afghan president Hamid Karzai during his visit to India, handed over a military wish list to the Indian officials. A number of Indian officials also reportedly visited Kabul recently to discuss the needs of the Afghan security forces.
