Anti-Government Protest In Australia Coinciding With Ghani’s Visit

MEP: Thousands of Afghan refugees in Australia, coinciding with the visit of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in this country, launched the manifestations of protest against the policies of Kabul government.

Australia’s Sky News Network has announced that the demonstration took place this morning (3rd April) in front of the “Government House” in Canberra.

Government House is the place where President Ghani met with Peter Cosgrove, Governor-General of Australia.

The protesters believed to have traveled from other states of Australia in Canberra, calling for revision of the agreement with Australia in 2011, the Kabul government to reinstate the refugees.

Australia and Afghanistan concluded an important agreement in 2011 on the return of refugees whose asylum application has not been accepted.

According to the agreement, the Australian government pledged to provide the costs of settlement and build houses for refugees returned as well as offering professional training for them in Afghanistan.

Ghani, on Sunday left Kabul for a 4-day trip to Australia, Indonesia and Singapore.
