Ashraf Ghani Meets US Vice President In Germany

MEP: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met US vice president Mike Pence in the German city of Munich where the two leaders affirmed the continued importance of the strategic partnership between their nations.

United States continues to assess “the increase of American troops for training their Afghan counterparts”, said Pence.

He added that Afghanistan has a special importance for the United States and they will continue their cooperation and support to the Afghan government and the Afghan people.

According to readout by White House, the leaders also discussed opportunities to strengthen the bilateral relationship and advance mutual interests, particularly in the areas of counterterrorism cooperation and economic development.

For his part, President Ghani hailed the contribution of the United States in various parts of Afghanistan and praised the sacrifices of US troops in the country.

He pointed out that the war in Afghanistan is not civil war, the country is in the first line of global security and the fight against terrorism.

President Ghani on Friday morning travelled to Germany a head of a high-ranking delegation to meet senior officials of the country over security, region and economic issues.
