KABUL: (MEP) – The Bilateral Security Agreement between Kabul and Washington is not only important to Kabul but has also great importance to the region, said a senior Indian diplomat.
Indian Ambassador to Kabul Amar Sinha stated the signing of the security accord would let the people to be sure of their economic and political stability.
“The Afghanistan government should make a right choice. I don’t think the Afghan government will have the position of not inking the agreement. If BSA is signed, it won’t be only important for Kabul but also for the whole region. This agreement ensures economic and political stability,” Ambassador Sinha noted.
Indian commerce secretary S. R. Rao, in his visit of Kabul, said his country was in favor of BSA which would ensure political and economic stability of Afghanistan.
“India and all other regional countries including Russia and China have announced their support of BSA. We think this agreement is very important for Afghanistan and will give a confidence to the investors and it will also ensure funding and training of Afghan Force. It is good for Afghanistan and we support it.”
The delay in signing of BSA has raised the concerns of the international community, investors and people of Afghanistan.
President Hamid Karzai has been insisting on his preconditions for BSA that are stop of raiding Afghan civilian homes and restart of peace talks with the Taliban.
