The sum was divided as $170 million allocated for the Afghan military and $270 for the civilian sectors, a statement by the Office of the Chief Executive said on Sunday.
The commitment was made by the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah on the sidelines of the Warsaw summit in Poland, the statement added.
Mr. Trudeau hailed the Afghan government for its achievements in the field of security, development, women’s rights and provision of working opportunities to them.
The Canadian Prime Minister also added that Canada will increase its support to Afghanistan and assured President Ghani in this regard.
President Ghani, on his part thanked Mr. Trudeau for Canada’s support in various sectors to Afghanistan and urged further assistance in management and human resources skill building.
CEO Abdullah also hailed and appreciated Canada for its support to Afghanistan in the fields of economy, development and fight against terrorism and called Canada a good friend of Afghanistan.
