MEP: Minister of Public Health to launch polio vaccination has asked the opposition and armed groups in Afghanistan to begin a ceasefire for the implementation of this program.
The process of polio vaccines began today by Firouz-ul-deen Firouz, Minister of Public Health.
Minister of Public Health at the start of this program, called on the armed opposition to start a ceasefire in the areas covered by this program and provide grounds for elimination of polio in the country.
Firouz said Afghanistan is very close to the eradication of polio and armed groups should not endanger the health of children and future generations by continuing their struggle in the areas covered by the vaccine.
According to him, the program is public and national that includes the pros and cons of government.
Fairuz added that in the first phase of the project in the spring of this year, 8.8 million children by 67 thousand employees are immunized and 7.9 million children with vitamin «A» will be more resistant to disease.
Minister of Public Health further added that three cases of polio recorded in the first quarter of 2017, Afghanistan had been very close to eliminating polio.
He pointed that in 2015, 20 cases and in 2016, 13 cases of polio in the country were recorded.
According to Mr Firouz, polio vaccination scheme comes into force in 31 provinces and in 3 cold provinces of Bamyan, Daikundi and Ghor, will be implemented after favorable weather.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Health urged the scholars to collaborate with the Ministry in the implementation of the polio vaccine.
