KABUL: (MEP) Clashes are still ongoing in Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas of Baghlan province, the local officials say on Tuesday.
Afghan security forces are trying to clear all the areas of Taliban insurgents, including parts where they have damaged power lines carrying electricity to Kabul.
Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat power company employees have arrived in the area to repair the electricity line but are coming under fire.
Local officials said that early Tuesday a number of NATO planes flew over the area but have as yet not carried out any air strikes in the operation.
With no end to clashes between security forces and the Taliban in sight, some Afghan security personnel on Monday said that planting of landmines by insurgents, the presence of the Taliban inside residential areas and a break in air strikes have prevented security forces from storming the area and eliminating the Taliban.
An afghan soldier said there is no fear from anyone, the boys (army soldiers) are moving forward to the warfront.
As violence in Dand-e-Ghori continues, Afghan security institutions have sent in reinforcements to the area to end the Taliban siege and liberate the war-hit district.
