Deadly suicide attack plot foiled in capital Kabul

KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan intelligence foiled coordinated suicide attacks aimed at civilian and military institutions in capital Kabul.

At least four suspected militants were arrested in connection to the terrorist attack plot by Afghan intelligence operatives.

National Directorate of Security (NDS) following a statement said Sunday the group was assigned by Haji Abdul Haji, head of Mahaz Fedayan in Quetta Council to carry out the attacks.

The statement further added that the militants were looking to target civilian and military institutions in Qargha and Shah Darak areas of Kabul city.

Afghan intelligence operatives seized suicide bombing vests, military uniforms, weapons and huge amount of explosives from the detained militants, NDS added in its statement.

NDS also added that the militants were arrested from the fifth district of Kabul city and the detainees have confessed that they received military and suicide attack trainings from commander Rashedi and Haji Abdul Hadi in Bypass area of Quetta city.

The detained militants were recognized as Mirwais who is originally a resident of Dai Merdad of Maidan Wardak province. He was the person responsible for coordinating the suicide attacks.

The suicide bombers were recognized as Syed Masoom, Mohammad Osman and Ajmla, who are originally the resident of Chak district in Logar province.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
