Estonia to support Afghanistan’s educational part

KABUL: (MEP) – Estonian Ambassador to Afghanistan Väino Reinart talked on chances for work together to develop Afghanistan’s education sector with Kabul University’s Chancellor Habibullah Habib Mohammad Hassan and Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs Mohammad Hadi Hedayati in Tallinn, capital city of Estonia.

“One of Estonia’s priorities in Afghanistan is to support the development of the educational sector, and in our development cooperation we have also focused on improving educational quality and raising the general level of education,” said Reinart, who also serves as the Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Economic and Development Affairs, Wadsam reported.

“Afghanistan needs specialists who can manage the challenges of a post-conflict society and help to successfully develop their country and society,” stated Undersecretary Reinart.

Chancellor Hassan welcomed Estonia’s cooperation and said Kabul University was interested in working with Estonian universities on training faculty as well as hosting visiting faculty in Afghanistan.

Kabul University is implementing three IT-related master’s programs that were developed in cooperation with Tallinn University. Additionally, 12 Afghan doctoral students are being trained who will begin to teach in the framework of the master’s programs.
