Explosion in Takhar leaves several dead, injured
KABUL: (Middle East Press) local officials said at least five civilians were killed and more than 21 others injured in a blast in Khojaghar district of Takhar province on Thursday morning.
According to Provincial Spokesman Sunatullah Temor, the incident took place at around 10:30 a.m.
He added that the explosives were hidden on a motorcycle.
According to the local officials, most of the victims were civilians who have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Takhar public health head Hafizullah Safi says that there are nine civilians, including women and children, killed and 24 others wounded. He added that the target was the ALP, but the detonation took place before the attacker reached the police.
Khojaghar hospital officials confirmed the death of six people. More than 30 wounded have been brought to the hospital of which eight are in critical condition.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
