Ministry of Interior spokesman, Sediq Sediqqi said the attack took place around 8am after a suicide car bomber detonated his explosives in the Hawa Shinasi area of Kabul in the eastern part of Hamid Karzai airport.
Sediqi confirmed that one person was killed and four others were wounded in the attack.
The injured were transferred to hospital and are being under treatment.
Taliban militants claimed responsibility behind the blast.
