Five insurgents killed in Nangarhar

Kabul: – (MEP) At least five government armed oppositions were killed in eastern province of Nangarhar, the alliance said.

The Commandos of the national army eliminated the fighters while conducting a clearing operation to disrupt insurgent activity in Wazir village of the district, said the forces in a statement.

Afghan National Army Special Forces Commandos are an elite group that conducts high-risk operations in remote areas known to be insurgents’ strongholds, said the source adding these counterinsurgency missions assist national and local police in their efforts to increase security, governance, and development.

“We conducted clearing operations here to eliminate the insurgents’ activities and take back the places under Taliban control,” said Lt. Col. Massoud Stanakzai, 1st SOK Commander,” said the Stankzai.

According to the statement no civilians were injured and no structural damages were reported during this operation.

“Progress in Afghanistan is real and tangible.  With the announcement of the fifth and final tranche of provinces to enter transition to full Afghan security responsibility, the Afghan National Special Operations Command will mark securing Wazir village as another important achievement for Afghanistan,” said the statement.

Both detainees were transferred to the custody of the Khogyani District National Directorate of Security, according to the statement.

On Tuesday, Afghan Local Police (ALP) killed three insurgents in Mehtar Lam district, Laghman province.
