KABUL: (MEP) – Taliban in a suicide attack used the detonated materials inside the holly Quran, afghan National Directorate of Security has claimed the bomb killed Arsala Jamal governor of the Logar province was veiled in a copy of holy Quran.
The Directorate in a statement has said early investigations revealed the bomb that detonated inside the mosque during the governor`s Eid message to the people, had been placed in a copy of holy Quran.
A video released by NDS shows pages of the Quran burnt as result of the blast targeting provincial governor, 1tv reported.
In the statement, it says terrorists by carrying out such attacks reveals they have no respect to places of worship and the holy Quran.
The NDS claims issued after local security officials in contact to media had asserted the explosives were hidden in a microphone that killed Arsala Jamal.
Arsala Jamal, governor of Logar province was killed through bomb blast while congratulating people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to officials more than 20 people including civilians and public employees were wounded in the incident, carried out inside a mosque in Pul-i-Alam center of the province.
No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack, yet Afghan authorities point out on Taliban for carrying out such assaults.
Meanwhile, the blast has followed intense condemnation by national including Afghan president Hamid Karzai and International figures.
Arsala Jamal, former governor of the Afghan southern province of Khost and deputy Afghan Central Bank had been appointed as governor of Logar last April.
Logar, located in near Afghan capital has seen insecurity impedes since the past recent times as Taliban are looking forward to station their loyal fighters in areas closing Kabul before International troops pull out on 2014.
