General Dostum eyes on VP in 2014 Election

KABUL: (MEP) – Gen. Abdul Rasheed Dostum, Afghanistan Movement Party chief will possibly join Karzai`s backed association in the upcoming Afghan Presidential elections scheduled on 2014, saying that Karzai has promised on allotting one of vice presidency slots to his party.

He added that for the sake of prevention of any disputes on seats allotment in the future, a copy of his party agreement letter with the government should be presented to certain nations as pledges witness.

Earlier in the past weeks, Gen. Dostum has conducted talks with some of Uzbek citizens of the country, seeking mass participations in the Afghan Presidential elections, 1TV news reported.

It is expressed that Dostum along with his party leaders and other Uzbek citizens of Afghanistan have agreed on securing one of vice president seats in future Afghan presidential polls.

Despite the fact that Afghan President Hamid Karzai had declared his neutrality in the elections, yet reports say a face to face meeting was held between Gen. Dostum and Karzai days before.

Obvious result of the talks yet to be known, but rumors say Karzai and Dostum decided on supporting each other led alliance in the presidential polls.

Based on Afghanistan Independent Election Commission (IEC), Afghanistan Presidential and Provincial Council elections are scheduled on April 2014.
