The former special secretary of Gulbuddin, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Pakistan.
Gharib-u-Rahman Saeed, a spokesman for Hezb-e-Islami, said the incident took place earlier today in Taj Abad district in Peshawar city when Haji Farid was moving from mosque to his home.
He said Haji Farid was the father-in-law of Salahuddin, the Hekmatyar`s oldest son and some days ago left Kabul to Peshawar. No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility behind the attack.
This is not the first time a member of the anti-government armed group or those who have joined peace has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Pakistan.
A senior leader of the Taliban group has been shot dead by unknown gunmen near Peshawar city of Pakistan in a similar attack last month.
The senior Taliban leader, Mawlavi Daud, was killed near Shamshato refugee camp on 28th April.
A senior leader of the Taliban group identified as Qari Syed Murad was killed in a similar attack in Pesawar city of Pakistan last year.
Qari Murad was a member of the military commission of the Taliban group for eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
Hezb-e-Islami`s spokesman described the incident as a political killing and called Pakistan government for ensuring lives of Afghan nationalities especially members of Hez-e-Islami.
Hekmatyar`s special secretary being killed in a city in Pakistan had entered Afghanistan in accordance with a peace accord between Hezb-e-Islami and Afghanistan government and Islam Abad has recently attended a trilateral meeting about Afghanistan.
