KABUL: (MEP) – The historic and most important elections in Afghanistan have started throughout the country amid strong security measures.
Hundreds of Afghans can be seen at each polling station of Kabul and provinces, lining up to choose their leader to mark country’s first democratic transfer of power.
President Hamid Karzai, his deputies, Presidential candidates and high-rank government officials casted their votes early Saturday morning.
The security of Kabul and provinces has been beefed up to prevent any possible activities of insurgents as the capital Kabul witnessed several bombings and armed attacks over the past three weeks.
