KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan intelligence operatives discovered and seized huge cache ammunition and explosives belonging to the Taliban group in Kapisa province.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) announced Sunday that the munitions were seized during an operation conducted by NDS operatives.
The munitions include 14 BM-21 rockets, 29 rounds of 82mm artillery shells, 20 rounds of RPG7 rockets, 53 rounds of grenade launcher ammunition, 3 rounds of mortar shells, 2 rounds of heavy artillery shells, 1 round of aircraft missile, 2 rounds of tank rockets, 5 boxes of Dshk machine ammunition, 9 improvised explosive device (IED), 1 anti-tank mine, 3 hand grenades, 9 kg of explosives and hundreds round of various weapons ammunition.
NDS in its statement further added that the Taliban militants were looking to carry out coordinated attacks using the ammunition and explosives in Kapisa province.
According to NDS officials, the Taliban militants were aiming to target the election campaigns in various areas of Kapisa province using the ammunition and explosives.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
