Human rights committee expresses concerns over to release of 72 prisoners
KABUL: (MEP) – The Human rights committee expressed its concerns over the release of 72 prisoners, demanding that the prisoners first be judged according to their past actions before they get released from Bagram jail. They also said the prisoners should not be released due to political pressures in the country.
The HRC spokesman Rafiullah Bidar said, “I express my concerns over the release of 72 Taliban prisoners from Bagram jail. Those persons violated the rights of human beings and should not be released. The Human rights commission demanded the justice and judicial institutions to review their cases individually, and stressed that those who were proven to be criminal should not be released.
A number of MPs, including Farkhunda Zarah Nadiri, Zahir Sadat, and Ghulam Hussien, have expressed their concerns over the release of the prisoners from Bagram jail. They said the presence of the 72 outside of the cells will have negative impact over the upcoming presidential election process in the country.
The release of the 72 Taliban prisoners from Bagram jail has caused significant negative reactions from National and International observers.
US officials have cautioned President Karzai to stop releasing dangerous prisoners from Bagram jail when those prisoners pose a significant security risk to the country and to the upcoming election.
