MEP: The latest version of the iPhone, under the name of iPhone 7 with dozens of new and unique features introduced by Apple.
The new device is indeed waterproof, and the larger model comes with an impressive dual-lens camera capable of all kinds of photographic wizardry.
The new iPhone features a design that’s very similar to last year’s iPhone 6S (and the year prior’s iPhone 6), with a rounded aluminum body. But what’s entirely new is the phone’s water resistance, which means you can get the iPhone 7 or the larger iPhone 7 Plus wet without worry.
Also new is the long-rumored dual camera system, stereo speakers, and a darker black color scheme. And, as expected, the iPhone 7 does not have a headphone jack, rendering countless 3.5mm headphones useless with the device (or requiring the use of an adapter).
Infared sensors detect when each pod is in your ear and motion sensors control the headphones to use Siri and detect your voice.
A 5.5-inch version of the handset has a dual-lens camera. This allows a huge increase in quality when zooming in on a photo, a problem that has plagued Apple for years.
The iPhone 7 Plus has two 12MP cameras, one of which is a wide angle lens and the other a telephoto lens that can zoom 2X in high quality without using any software. The telephoto lens means the camera can zoom to 10X with optical and soft zoom.
Apple has also ditched the 16GB and 64GB models, and introduced a new 256GB model – which has the same amount of storage as Apple’s top-of-the-range iPad Pro.
Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco on September 7.
Customers in the UK will be able to pre-order the new phones from Friday, September 9, and the new devices will be available in shops from Friday, September 16.
