Iranian Woman Arrested over Murdering in Afghanistan

KABUL: (Middle East Press) An Iranian woman condemned in murder case was arrested by Afghan police forces in western Herat province.

Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the criminal was arrested by Interpol police after receiving necessary information from the Iranian side.

Head of the Interpol Department in the Ministry of Interior, Gen. Syed Afandi, said the convict identified as Suraya Qeyami was arrested and handed over to Iranian authorities based on prisoners transfer agreement between the two nations.

Gen. Afandi further added that Qeyami was convicted of murdering an individual in Iran and had escaped to Afghanistan after committing crime.

He also added that Iran has transferred at least 9 Afghan nationals convicted of murder to Afghan authorities. The convicts had escaped to Iran after committing murder offense in Afghanistan.
