MEP: security officials in Jawzjan province say an illegal armed commander with people under his command have joined to Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group.
Jawzjan police chief, Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Turkistani told the Middle East Press, chief Ibrahim on Monday with 10 people under his command in Qush Tapa District has joined the Daesh.
He said based on the information received, the people have joined with Qari Hekmat one of the commanders of Daesh terrorist group in the province.
The report comes as Masoum Stanikzai, head of national security in the interpellation session of Parliament on Monday said, “Qari Hekmat is one of the local armed Taliban commanders and has nothing to do with ISIS.
With the beginning of 1396, the solar year this is the third event of armed people or religious scholars joining to armed opposition groups in northern Afghanistan.
Previously two religious scholars in Baghlan and Takhar provinces have joined the militant groups with a number of their students.
