John Kerry met Afghan officials, including Karzai

KABUL: (Middle East Press) following a statement, President Karzai met with the US Secretary of State of John Kerry on Friday morning, the ARG presidential palace

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has assured that the swearing-in ceremony for the next elected president of Afghanistan will be arranged on 2nd August.

The statement further added that the two sides discussed election issues, UN proposal to resolve the election crisis and views of the two presidential contenders regarding the election.

President Karzai repeated that any outcome that leads to the decision of election crisis through Afghan laws and in understanding with the presidential candidates will be acceptable.

Karzai said he has agreed to the UN proposal and reiterated that necessary preparations have been made for the swearing-in ceremony of next Afghan president which will be organized on 2nd August.

Kerry arrived in Afghanistan on Friday to meet with the Afghan officials and presidential candidates to help resolve the election crisis.

He is expected to hold separate talks with Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai who secured lead in the preliminary vote results announced by independent election commission.

Kerry will also meet with Dr. Abdullah Abdullah who has rejected the preliminary vote results for the runoff presidential election.
