Khalilzad Stays in Kabul for a While

KABUL (MEP) – After US President Donald Trump`s sharp declarations on Afghanistan, ARG has announced that the US State Department’s special envoy, Zalmai Khalilzad, must stay in Kabul for a few days.

Khalilzad arrived in Kabul yesterday and met with Ghani amid his new round of talks with Taliban.

“President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Zalmay Khalilzad last night,” Media Office of ARG said.

The recent developments and statements by the President of the United States on Afghanistan have been comprehensively discussed and Khalilzad was scheduled to stay in Kabul, the newsletter added.

The newsletter further says that, Mr. Khalilzad briefed president Ghani on his recent efforts in bringing peace in the country.

Although Khalilzad’s seventh round of talks with the Taliban has begun since yesterday, people and experts believe that his previous efforts has not had any clear achievements.
